Question 1

What should I check on a Peugeot 308's 1.2 PureTech engine?

Accepted Answer

The timing belt runs in engine oil and can wear early, shedding material into the lubrication system. Ask for proof of belt inspection or replacement and of oil changes with the specified grade. A car with gaps in that history deserves a closer look by a mechanic.

Question 2

Is the Peugeot 308 SW much bigger than the hatchback?

Accepted Answer

The SW has a longer body and a noticeably larger boot, and rear legroom benefits too. It drives much like the hatchback and suits families and long trips.

Question 3

How much IUC does a used Peugeot 308 pay?

Accepted Answer

For cars registered from July 2007 onwards, the IUC is set by engine size and CO2 emissions, so a small PureTech or BlueHDi usually pays a modest amount. The exact figure for a given plate can be checked on the Portal das Finanças.

Question 4

Does the Peugeot 308's small steering wheel suit everyone?

Accepted Answer

The i-Cockpit puts the instruments above a compact wheel, and some drivers find the rim hides part of the display. Adjust seat and wheel during a test drive to see whether it works for your height.
