Does the manual Peugeot 308 have clutch problems?

Wear on the clutch and dual-mass flywheel is the thing to watch, especially on diesels driven mostly in town. Judder when pulling away or a rattle at idle means replacement is close.

Which engine is best in a manual Peugeot 308?

The 1.5 BlueHDi with the six-speed gearbox suits high-mileage drivers. For lower mileage the 1.2 PureTech works well, provided its timing belt has been checked or replaced on time.

Is a manual Peugeot 308 better than an automatic?

For mostly open-road driving, yes: a manual is simpler to maintain and avoids the cost of repairing an automatic. In daily city traffic the EAT8 automatic makes the 308 more relaxing.
