Question 1

How much of the Kia warranty is left on a used car?

Accepted Answer

The warranty runs seven years or 150,000 km from first registration, whichever comes first, and transfers to each new owner. It requires servicing to schedule, so check the service record and ask a Kia dealer to confirm the cover from the VIN.

Question 2

Kia Niro hybrid, plug-in hybrid or electric?

Accepted Answer

The Niro hybrid charges itself and suits anyone without a socket. The plug-in hybrid only pays off when charged often, and the electric Niro is convenient only with charging at home or at work. Only the electric one is exempt from IUC.

Question 3

Is a diesel Kia Sportage worth considering?

Accepted Answer

The 1.6 CRDi suits drivers who cover long distances, and later versions add a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. In Portugal a diesel pays the IUC surcharge, and short trips are hard on its particulate filter.

Question 4

Do Kia and Hyundai share parts?

Accepted Answer

Kia belongs to the Hyundai Motor Group, and many models share platforms, engines and gearboxes with a Hyundai counterpart, such as the Sportage and Tucson. That makes parts easy to find and helps when comparing two similar cars.
