Which diesel engines does a used Kia Sportage have?

The 2010 to 2015 Sportage used the 1.7 and 2.0 CRDi. From 2018 the 1.6 CRDi replaced the 1.7, later with a 48 V mild-hybrid system.

Does a used Kia diesel still have the 7-year warranty?

It may: Kia's 7-year or 150,000 km warranty runs from first registration and passes to the next owner. On a high-mileage diesel, the 150,000 km limit usually runs out before the 7 years.

Is a Kia diesel a good idea for town driving?

Not really: the CRDi's particulate filter needs open-road driving to regenerate. For mostly urban use, a petrol Kia, a hybrid such as the Niro or an electric car avoids the problem.

Diesel Kias use CRDi engines, from the 1.6 in the Ceed and Sportage to the Sorento's 2.2. On newer cars with a 48 V system and AdBlue, check the fluid level and the particulate filter's history, since short trips clog it.
