Question 1

What is the problem with the Citroën C3's PureTech engine?

Accepted Answer

The 1.2 PureTech three-cylinder uses a timing belt that runs in the engine oil, and on many cars the belt sheds material early, which can block the oil pickup and damage the engine. Ask for proof that the belt has been inspected or replaced on schedule and that the correct oil has been used.

Question 2

What should I check on a Citroën C3 BlueHDi diesel?

Accepted Answer

Diesel C3s from 2016 use BlueHDi engines with an AdBlue tank to cut nitrogen oxide emissions. An AdBlue warning or a countdown to a no-start on the dashboard points to a fault in the system, often the tank or its pump, which is costly to fix.

Question 3

Is the Citroën ë-C3 a different car?

Accepted Answer

The ë-C3 is the electric version of the fourth-generation C3, launched in 2024 on a new platform, with an LFP battery. As a fully electric car it pays no IUC in Portugal, and an imported one pays no ISV.

Question 4

Accepted Answer

The C3 Aircross is a separate small SUV launched in 2017, sharing the name and some engines but with its own body and a higher driving position. The C3 Picasso sold before it was a compact MPV.
