Question 1

What should I know about the PureTech engine in a Citroën C3?

Accepted Answer

The 1.2 PureTech's timing belt runs in oil and on many cars has worn before its due date, shedding debris that can block the oil pump strainer. Ask when the belt was changed and choose a car with that work documented.

Question 2

Is the Citroën C3 Aircross the same car as the C3?

Accepted Answer

No. The C3 Aircross is a small SUV with a higher seating position and more boot space, sold alongside the C3 hatchback. They share engines but differ in size and price, so compare them as separate models.

Question 3

Is the electric Citroën C3, the ë-C3, a good choice for Lisbon?

Accepted Answer

It suits city driving, and as a fully electric car it pays no IUC. Many Lisbon flats have no garage, so plan where you will charge, on the public Mobi.E network or at work, before you buy.

Question 4

Can an older Citroën C3 drive into central Lisbon?

Accepted Answer

Lisbon's low-emission zone around the Avenida da Liberdade and the Baixa restricts older cars by their Euro standard. If you will drive downtown, check the city's current rules against the Euro standard of an older diesel C3.
