Question 1

What is the known issue with the Peugeot 208's 1.2 PureTech engine?

Accepted Answer

Its timing belt runs in an oil bath and can wear early, shedding debris that may block the oil pump strainer. Stellantis has extended its cover on affected engines under conditions, so ask for the service history and whether the belt has been replaced.

Question 2

Is a used Peugeot e-208 a good choice?

Accepted Answer

It suits mostly urban and suburban driving and carries the green Crit'Air sticker, which opens every low-emission zone. Ask for a battery health report; the battery has its own warranty of eight years or 160,000 km from first registration.

Question 3

Which Crit'Air sticker does a Peugeot 208 get?

Accepted Answer

A petrol 208 meeting Euro 5 or 6 gets Crit'Air 1, a diesel Crit'Air 2 and the e-208 the green electric sticker. The sticker, not the car's age as such, decides which low-emission zones it can enter.

Question 4

Is a Peugeot 208 cheap to maintain?

Accepted Answer

As one of the best-selling cars in France, it is serviced by almost every garage and its parts are widely stocked. That keeps routine work affordable outside the dealer network too.
