Question 1

Which Crit'Air sticker does a diesel Peugeot 208 get?

Accepted Answer

Every 208 diesel meets at least Euro 5, so it carries the Crit'Air 2 sticker; no diesel can get Crit'Air 1. Check the low-emission zone rules of the cities you drive into, as some restrict Crit'Air 2 cars from set dates or during pollution peaks.

Question 2

What should I check on the AdBlue system of a Peugeot 208 BlueHDi?

Accepted Answer

Ask whether the AdBlue tank or pump has been replaced, and make sure no AdBlue warning shows on the dashboard. Faults on this system are common on BlueHDi engines and can end in a countdown that stops the engine restarting.

Question 3

Is a diesel 208 a good choice for city driving?

Accepted Answer

Mostly not. Repeated short trips keep the particulate filter from regenerating, which leads to clogging and costly repairs. If most of your driving is urban, a petrol or electric 208 will usually serve you better.

Question 4

What paperwork comes with a used 208 diesel in France?

Accepted Answer

The seller hands over the certificat d'immatriculation, crossed through and signed, and a contrôle technique less than six months old if the car is over four years old. The diesel test includes a smoke opacity measurement, so a car that fails it may need work on the injection or the filter.
