Question 1

What should I know about the Peugeot 208's 1.2 PureTech timing belt?

Accepted Answer

The 1.2 PureTech uses a timing belt that runs in engine oil, and on some engines it has degraded early, sometimes affecting the oil pump. Ask whether the belt has been inspected or replaced, whether servicing used the specified oil and whether the car falls under Stellantis's extended programme.

Question 2

What should I check on a used Peugeot e-208?

Accepted Answer

Ask for a battery health report, which many dealers can provide, and check which charging cables come with the car. Peugeot's warranty covers the e-208 battery for eight years or 160,000 km from first registration, which a 2023 car may still benefit from.

Question 3

Does a 2023 Peugeot 208 need a contrôle technique to be sold?

Accepted Answer

The first contrôle technique is due four years after first registration. Until then a 2023 car can be sold without one; after that date the seller must provide a report less than six months old.

Question 4

Which Crit'Air sticker does a 2023 Peugeot 208 get?

Accepted Answer

A petrol 208 from 2023 meets Euro 6 and receives Crit'Air 1, while the electric e-208 gets the green zero-emission sticker. Both sit at the top of the scale used by low-emission zones.
