Question 1

Does the airbag recall affect a used Citroën C3?

Accepted Answer

Second-generation C3s, built from 2009 to 2016, are among the Stellantis cars recalled to replace their Takata driver airbag, with an instruction not to drive them until the work is done. Give the VIN to a Citroën dealer, or enter it on the brand's recall checker, to confirm that the airbag has been replaced.

Question 2

What is the problem with the Citroën C3's PureTech engine?

Accepted Answer

The 1.2 PureTech three-cylinder runs its timing belt in engine oil, and on many cars the belt wears early and sheds debris that can starve the engine of oil. Ask for invoices showing belt checks or replacement and the specified oil. Stellantis has offered extended cover for this fault on many cars, which a dealer can confirm against the VIN.

Question 3

Which Crit'Air sticker does a Citroën C3 get?

Accepted Answer

A petrol C3 meeting Euro 5 or Euro 6 gets Crit'Air 1, a diesel of the same standards Crit'Air 2, and the ë-C3 the green zero-emission sticker. An early first-generation C3 can fall into a higher-numbered class, which matters in low-emission zones.

Question 4

What paperwork comes with a used Citroën C3?

Accepted Answer

When a C3 over four years old is sold, the seller must hand over a contrôle technique report less than six months old, together with the carte grise crossed through, dated and signed. The buyer then registers the car in their own name online through the ANTS.
