Question 1

Passenger or goods Kangoo: what is the difference?

Accepted Answer

A Kangoo registered as a goods vehicle (ligeiro de mercadorias) usually has two or three seats and a load bay, and is taxed differently from the passenger version. Changing the category later means modifying the vehicle, an inspection and an updated registration, so buy the version that matches your use.

Question 2

What should I know about an electric Kangoo Z.E.?

Accepted Answer

Many Kangoo Z.E. vans were sold with the battery on a monthly lease rather than owned, so check whether the battery comes with the vehicle or a lease contract must be transferred. Real range on early versions is modest, so match it to your daily distance.

Question 3

Is the Kangoo 1.5 dCi diesel a good choice?

Accepted Answer

It is the most common engine in the Kangoo and suits drivers covering steady distances. Later versions have a particulate filter that needs longer runs to clean itself, which matters if the van spends most of its time on short trips in town.

Question 4

Which other vans share the Kangoo's design?

Accepted Answer

The first Mercedes-Benz Citan was based on the second-generation Kangoo, and the current Citan and the Nissan Townstar share the third generation's platform. Parts and workshop know-how therefore overlap between them.
