Question 1

Is an electric Jaguar I-Pace cheaper to own in Portugal?

Accepted Answer

Fully electric cars are exempt from IUC in Portugal and, when imported, from ISV. That makes the I-Pace's taxes far lower than a diesel F-Pace's. Battery health and charging history are the points to check before buying.

Question 2

What should I check on an imported Jaguar?

Accepted Answer

Confirm that ISV was paid and that the car carries Portuguese plates and is registered at the Registo Automóvel. A car still on foreign plates has to go through that process before it can be registered here. Ask for the IPO inspection reports too.

Question 3

Where can a used Jaguar be serviced?

Accepted Answer

In many places Jaguar shares its workshop network with Land Rover, and independent specialists also work on the marque. Servicing with the right diagnostic equipment matters, because these cars rely heavily on electronics and software updates.

Question 4

How much IUC does a diesel Jaguar pay?

Accepted Answer

For cars registered since July 2007, the IUC depends on engine size and CO2 emissions, with an extra charge for diesels. A 2.0 diesel XE or XF therefore pays more each year than a small car, while an I-Pace pays nothing.
