Question 1

Is MG still a British brand?

Accepted Answer

MG began in Oxford as Morris Garages and became famous for its sports cars, but since 2007 it has belonged to SAIC Motor of China. Current models are developed with input from a design centre in London and mostly built in China.

Question 2

Does the warranty on a used MG pass to a second owner?

Accepted Answer

MG's European factory warranty runs for seven years or 150,000 km from first registration and stays with the car when it is sold. Ask for the service book, because skipped services can limit cover.

Question 3

What should I check on a used MG4 or ZS EV?

Accepted Answer

Ask for a battery health reading and check that the car has had the software updates MG dealers install. Test DC charging if you can, since charging speed and range say more about these cars than the odometer.

Question 4

Do electric MGs pay IUC in Portugal?

Accepted Answer

No, fully electric cars are exempt from IUC, and from ISV when imported. Plug-in hybrids such as the HS pay IUC on engine size and CO2, which is low on paper thanks to the official electric range.
