Question 1

What is the difference between the Berlingo passenger car and the van?

Accepted Answer

The passenger version has rear seats and side windows and is registered as a passenger vehicle. The van has a load area behind the front seats and is registered for goods, which changes the taxes it pays and how many people it may carry.

Question 2

Which models are the same car as the current Berlingo?

Accepted Answer

Since 2018 the Berlingo has shared its platform, body and engines with the Peugeot Rifter and Partner, the Opel Combo and the Toyota Proace City. Parts and known faults are largely the same across all four.

Question 3

What should I check on a BlueHDi diesel Berlingo?

Accepted Answer

Ask whether the AdBlue system has shown warnings or been repaired, since a fault there starts a countdown that ends with the engine refusing to start. Diesels used mostly for short trips also tend to clog their particulate filter.

Question 4

Is there a seven-seat Berlingo?

Accepted Answer

Yes, some versions have a third row of seats, and the long XL body of the current generation leaves the most room behind it. The registration document records the number of seats.

Question 5

Is the electric ë-Berlingo worth considering?

Accepted Answer

For town deliveries and short family trips, yes: it is exempt from IUC in Portugal and cheap to charge at home. Check the battery health and the real range, which suits local driving better than long motorway journeys.
