Question 1

Which Captur engine is known for burning oil?

Accepted Answer

The 1.2 TCe 120 petrol fitted to early first-generation Captur has a record of high oil consumption that can end in engine damage. Check the oil level before the test drive and ask for invoices for any work done on the engine.

Question 2

What should I look for in a Captur with the EDC gearbox?

Accepted Answer

EDC is Renault's dual-clutch automatic, offered with petrol and diesel engines. On the test drive it should pull away and creep in traffic smoothly, without jerks, slipping or warning messages.

Question 3

How do the Captur E-Tech hybrid and E-Tech plug-in hybrid differ?

Accepted Answer

The E-Tech hybrid recharges its battery while driving and never needs plugging in. The plug-in hybrid has a larger battery charged from the mains and can cover short trips on electricity alone; both otherwise run on petrol and qualify for Crit'Air 1.

Question 4

Which Crit'Air sticker does a diesel Captur get?

Accepted Answer

The dCi diesels meeting Euro 5 or Euro 6 get Crit'Air 2, which some low-emission zones in France restrict. Petrol and hybrid versions qualify for Crit'Air 1.
