Question 1

Is a Citroën DS3 the same as a DS 3?

Accepted Answer

No. The Citroën DS3 was a small hatchback sold under the Citroën name before DS became a brand of its own. The DS 3 Crossback that followed, now simply DS 3, is a small SUV on a different platform; parts and servicing for both go through the Stellantis network.

Question 2

What should I check on a DS with a PureTech engine?

Accepted Answer

The 1.2 PureTech has a timing belt that runs in engine oil, and on early engines it wore out prematurely. Ask for proof that the belt was inspected or replaced at the shorter intervals Stellantis introduced, and that the specified oil was used.

Question 3

What does E-Tense mean on a DS?

Accepted Answer

E-Tense marks the electrified versions: plug-in hybrids on the DS 4, DS 7 and DS 9, and the fully electric DS 3 E-Tense. On a used one, check that the charging cable comes with the car and ask how the battery has been charged.

Question 4

Which Crit'Air sticker does a DS get?

Accepted Answer

It depends on fuel and Euro standard: recent petrol models and plug-in hybrids get Crit'Air 1, diesels from Euro 5 get Crit'Air 2, and the electric DS 3 gets the green zero-emission sticker. The sticker decides access to French low-emission zones.
