Question 1

Why does the carte grise of an Audi SUV cost more?

Accepted Answer

The regional fee is a rate multiplied by the car's fiscal horsepower, the chevaux fiscaux on the registration document. A powerful petrol or diesel Q5, Q7 or Q8 therefore costs noticeably more to register than a Q2, and each region sets its own rate.

Question 2

Does every Audi SUV have quattro?

Accepted Answer

No. Smaller models such as the Q2 and Q3 are often front-wheel drive in their less powerful versions, while the larger models usually come with quattro. The exact version shows whether the car has all-wheel drive.

Question 3

Which Crit'Air sticker does an Audi SUV get?

Accepted Answer

A diesel TDI meeting Euro 5 or 6 gets Crit'Air 2, a petrol or plug-in hybrid TFSI from 2011 gets Crit'Air 1, and an electric e-tron gets Crit'Air 0. The sticker decides access to the low-emission zones of French cities.

Question 4

Is there a malus on a used Audi SUV?

Accepted Answer

The French environmental malus is paid at a car's first registration in France, so a used Audi SUV already registered there carries none. An SUV imported from another country pays it on its first French registration, reduced for the car's age.
