Question 1

What should I know about Peugeot's 1.2 PureTech engine?

Accepted Answer

This three-cylinder petrol is fitted to the 208, 2008, 308 and 3008, among others, and its timing belt runs in oil and can break down sooner than planned. Ask for proof that the belt was inspected or replaced, and if an oil pressure warning appears, have the car checked before buying.

Question 2

What is the Peugeot i-Cockpit?

Accepted Answer

Most recent Peugeots have a small steering wheel with the instruments read over the top of it rather than through it. Some drivers love it, while others find the wheel hides the dials from their seating position, so sit in the car before committing.

Question 3

Do diesel Peugeots have AdBlue problems?

Accepted Answer

BlueHDi diesels inject AdBlue to cut emissions, and some suffer faults in the AdBlue tank or pump that bring up a warning and a countdown to a no-start. Check that no such warning shows and ask whether the system has been repaired.

Question 4

Is an electric Peugeot cheaper to keep in Portugal?

Accepted Answer

The e-208 and e-2008 pay no IUC and paid no ISV when first registered, which lowers the yearly cost. Ask for a battery health report and check which charging power the car accepts.
