Question 1

Which is the best Opel Corsa petrol engine?

Accepted Answer

In the Corsa D and E, the naturally aspirated 1.4 is simple and balanced, and the Corsa E's 1.0 Turbo combines pull with low consumption. In the Corsa F, the 1.2 Turbo is the more pleasant, provided its oil-bathed belt has been checked.

Question 2

Does the Opel Corsa 1.2 PureTech have the same problem as Peugeot's?

Accepted Answer

Yes: the Corsa F uses the same 1.2 PureTech engine, with an oil-bathed timing belt that can degrade. Check whether it has been replaced or inspected and that services used oil to the correct specification.

Question 3

What faults do the Opel Corsa 1.2 and 1.4 petrol engines have?

Accepted Answer

In the Corsa D and E, oil and coolant leaks from the thermostat housing are common, and the timing chain can stretch with careless maintenance. A metallic rattle from cold or stains under the engine call for a check.
