Question 1

Which Opel Corsa generation is electric?

Accepted Answer

The sixth generation, on sale since 2019, added a battery-electric version, first sold as the Corsa-e and later as the Corsa Electric. It shares its platform with the Peugeot e-208. Ask for a battery health report before buying.

Question 2

What should I check on a Corsa with the 1.2 turbo petrol?

Accepted Answer

This three-cylinder engine, shared with Peugeot and Citroën, uses a timing belt that runs in oil, and its replacement interval matters. Ask for proof that the belt has been inspected or changed on schedule.

Question 3

How is ownership transferred when I buy a Corsa in Porto?

Accepted Answer

The change of owner is recorded at the Registo Automóvel, online or at a registry office. A dealer normally handles it for you; in a private sale, buyer and seller submit the request together.

Question 4

Does a used Corsa need an IPO inspection?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In Portugal a passenger car first goes to the IPO four years after registration, then every two years until it is eight, and every year after that. Check the date of the last inspection on the paperwork.
