What is the most reliable Opel Astra diesel engine?

The 1.6 CDTI in the Astra J and K is regarded as smoother and less troublesome than the 1.7 CDTI it replaced. With either, a record of regular oil changes matters more than the version.

Does the Opel Astra diesel have particulate filter problems?

The filter can clog on a car used mainly in town, because regeneration needs longer runs at steady speed. A filter warning light or a loss of power on a test drive is a reason to ask for a diagnostic check.

Does a diesel Opel Astra pay more IUC in Portugal?

Yes, category B diesel cars pay an additional diesel charge on the IUC compared with the petrol version. The amount depends on each engine's displacement and CO2 emissions.
