Is the manual Mercedes A-Class more reliable than the automatic?

Generally yes, because the manual avoids the costlier dual-clutch repairs and is simpler to maintain. On diesels, the dual-mass flywheel and clutch are the parts to watch.

Is the Mercedes A-Class still sold new with a manual gearbox?

No: since the 2023 facelift the A-Class has been sold with an automatic gearbox only. A manual A-Class is therefore always a car from before that update.

Which engines come with the manual Mercedes A-Class?

On the W177, the manual came with the entry engines, such as the petrol A 160 and A 180 and the A 180 d. The W176 offered more choice, including A 200 and A 200 d versions.
