Question 1

Where should I test drive a Mercedes A-Class in Porto?

Accepted Answer

Combine a stretch of the VCI ring road or motorway, to listen for noises at speed, with the steep streets of the centre, where you can feel whether the automatic gearbox hesitates. On a diesel, a few uninterrupted kilometres also show whether the particulate filter regenerates without warnings.

Question 2

How do I transfer a Mercedes A-Class bought in Porto?

Accepted Answer

Ownership is recorded at the Registo Automóvel, online or at a registry counter, with the registration document and a sale declaration signed by both parties. Also check that the IUC road tax and the periodic IPO inspection are up to date before paying.

Question 3

Should I have a used Mercedes A-Class inspected before buying in Porto?

Accepted Answer

Yes, especially from a private seller: a specialist garage can read the digital service history and test the gearbox and AdBlue system. On a car over four years old, also ask for the latest IPO inspection certificate.
