Question 1

Which Crit'Air sticker does a Renault diesel get?

Accepted Answer

A diesel first registered from 2011 (Euro 5 or 6) gets Crit'Air 2, and one from 2006 to 2010 gets Crit'Air 3. No diesel qualifies for Crit'Air 1, which matters in cities with a strict low-emission zone.

Question 2

Is the Renault 1.5 dCi diesel reliable?

Accepted Answer

It is a widespread, economical engine, but older examples are known for connecting-rod bearing wear when oil changes were stretched. Regular oil changes with the right grade matter more than the mileage.

Question 3

What is AdBlue for on a Renault Blue dCi?

Accepted Answer

It is a urea solution injected into the exhaust to cut nitrogen oxides, kept in a separate tank you top up between services. If it runs empty the engine will not restart, so watch for warning lights on the test drive.

Question 4

Is a diesel Renault a good choice for town driving?

Accepted Answer

Short trips stop the particulate filter from regenerating, which leads to clogging and costly repairs. A diesel suits drivers who cover long distances; for town use a petrol or hybrid fits better.
