Question 1

Does the MG warranty carry over to a second owner?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the manufacturer warranty belongs to the car rather than the owner. On recent models it runs for seven years or 150,000 km, but it depends on servicing to schedule. Ask to see the service book and the invoices.

Question 2

Is the old MG ZS the same car as the new one?

Accepted Answer

No. Today's ZS is a compact SUV with electric or hybrid power, while the MG ZS of the early 2000s was a sporty saloon based on the Rover 45. When a car is called ZS, always check its year and body.

Question 3

How large is MG's dealer network in France?

Accepted Answer

It is smaller than those of the big European brands. Before buying, check how far the nearest authorised workshop is, since warranty work is carried out there.

Question 4

What should I watch for on an MGF or MG TF?

Accepted Answer

These roadsters use Rover's K-series engine, which is known for head gasket failures. Look for coolant loss and signs of overheating, and ask for proof of a gasket replacement. Parts now mostly come through specialists.
