Question 1

Which Mercedes-Benz SUVs have seven seats?

Accepted Answer

The GLS has seven seats as standard. The GLB, the EQB and the current GLE offered a third row as an option, so it is the individual car that decides, not the model name.

Question 2

Is every Mercedes-Benz SUV four-wheel drive?

Accepted Answer

No. Entry versions of the GLA and GLB are often front-wheel drive, while the GLE, GLS and G-Class almost always come with 4MATIC. The badge on the tailgate tells you which.

Question 3

Why is the carte grise so expensive on a large SUV?

Accepted Answer

The fee is a regional rate multiplied by the car's fiscal horsepower, its chevaux fiscaux, and a GLE or G-Class carries a lot of them. Electric EQ models pay a reduced rate or nothing, depending on the region.

Question 4

What about an SUV imported from Germany?

Accepted Answer

A used car registered in France for the first time can owe the malus écologique on top of the carte grise, reduced according to its age. Work that sum out before you agree a price.

Question 5

What should I check on a used Mercedes GLE or GLS?

Accepted Answer

Air suspension, where fitted, is costly to repair: the car should still sit level after standing overnight. On diesels, any warning about the AdBlue system needs explaining before you buy.
