Question 1

Does the Kia warranty transfer to me?

Accepted Answer

Kia's seven-year, 150,000 km warranty stays with the car, so a used one keeps whatever term is left, provided it has been serviced to the manufacturer's schedule. Ask for the first registration date and the service invoices to confirm it.

Question 2

Full hybrid or plug-in Kia?

Accepted Answer

A full hybrid charges its small battery while driving and needs no socket. A plug-in hybrid has a larger battery for longer electric driving, but only pays off if you can charge it at home or at work; otherwise it carries extra weight for little gain.

Question 3

How do I tell a mild-hybrid Kia from a full hybrid?

Accepted Answer

Mild hybrids, often badged MHEV, use a 48-volt system that assists the engine but cannot drive the car on electricity alone. The version name shows which system the car has, and a test drive settles it: only a full or plug-in hybrid pulls away silently on electric power.

Question 4

Which Crit'Air sticker does a Kia hybrid get?

Accepted Answer

Petrol hybrids, plug-in or not, normally qualify for Crit'Air 1, which gives broad access to low-emission zones. A diesel mild hybrid is rated like any recent diesel, at Crit'Air 2.
