Which Fiat petrol engine is the most reliable?

The 1.2 Fire eight-valve is the most durable: simple, cheap to service and widely known by garages. The TwinAir and MultiAir engines are livelier but need oil changes on time, as their valve-control unit is sensitive to oil quality.

Does a petrol Fiat 500 get a good Crit'Air sticker?

Yes: a petrol Fiat 500 registered from 2011 gets Crit'Air 1, the best sticker after an electric car's. Older diesels face more limits in low-emission zones.

Is the Fiat TwinAir economical in real driving?

Less than its official figures suggest: the two-cylinder turbo uses noticeably more fuel when driven briskly or on the motorway. It suits buyers who enjoy its character more than those chasing the lowest running costs.
