Which petrol engine is best in a used Volvo?

The T4 and T5 four-cylinder engines are the best all-rounders, with strong pull for an SUV or estate and reasonable running costs. The three-cylinder T3 in the XC40 suits town use, while the T6 is quick but thirsty.

What DGT label does a petrol Volvo get?

A petrol Volvo registered from 2006 onwards gets the C label. Later petrol models badged B3, B4, B5 or B6 are mild hybrids and earn the ECO label instead.

Is a petrol Volvo cheaper to run than a diesel?

A petrol Volvo costs more in fuel on long motorway runs, but it avoids the particulate filter and EGR problems that short trips cause in a diesel. For mostly urban use or modest mileage, the petrol is usually the cheaper car to own.
