Data removal

Data removal

Mycarro is a search engine for cars. This page explains what we take from other websites, the legal grounds we rely on, and how a website, a seller, a rights holder or an affected person can ask for removal.

What Mycarro is

Mycarro works like any other search engine, focused on cars. We automatically index car listings that dealers and marketplaces publish openly on the internet, through data partners that carry out the collection for us, extract the facts about each vehicle, and make them searchable and comparable in one place. Every listing links back to its original source, where the sale actually happens.

We do not sell vehicles, we are not a party to any sale, and we do not publish listings on anyone's behalf. We index what is already public so that buyers can find it.

What we collect from listings

  • Facts about the vehicle — make, model, version, year, mileage, fuel, gearbox, colour, equipment, price, the region or city where it is offered, and the address of the original listing.
  • Images and descriptions — one low-resolution thumbnail per listing, attributed and linked to the original. It is the only image we keep, and we do not republish the seller's description.
  • Seller information — a dealer's trading name and the business contact details it publishes in its own listings. For a private seller we store no personal data.

We do not collect anything behind a login, a paywall or any other access control.

  • Facts are free. A car's price, mileage and specification are information, not a creative work, and copyright does not protect them. Indexing them is what search engines do and what makes a market transparent to buyers.
  • Rights in content are respected. Photographs and descriptions belong to whoever made them. We do not republish descriptions, and of the photographs we keep only a low-resolution thumbnail to identify the vehicle, attributed and linked to the source, removed on request.
  • Databases are respected. We take only what is needed to index each listing, visit sources at a moderate rate, send buyers back to the source, and stop indexing a source that asks us to.
  • Personal data is minimised. Our privacy policy explains what we process and the rights you have. Anyone can raise a concern about content on the site, and we act on it promptly.

Who can ask for removal

  • A website or marketplace that does not want its listings indexed by Mycarro, in part or as a whole.
  • A seller who wants a listing removed, for example after the car has been sold.
  • A rights holder whose photographs appear without permission.
  • Any person whose personal data has reached a listing by someone else's mistake.

How to send a request

Email [email protected] with the subject "Removal request", or use our contact form, and include:

  1. Who you are and how you relate to the content — for example the operator of the website, the seller, the owner of the photographs, or the person concerned.
  2. The address of each page on Mycarro concerned and, if you have it, of the original listing. To remove a whole source, give its website address.
  3. What you would like removed, and why.
  4. A statement that the information in your request is accurate and made in good faith.

When a request would remove content that belongs to someone else, we may ask you to confirm your connection to it — for a whole website, for instance, by writing from an address at that website's own domain.

What happens next

We acknowledge every request and act on it without undue delay. Requests about personal data are answered within one month, as the GDPR requires.

  • A single listing is removed from search and from its page, together with its thumbnail, and is kept out of future updates.
  • A whole source stops being indexed, and its listings are removed from Mycarro.
  • Personal data is erased or corrected as requested, unless the law requires us to keep it; if so, we explain why.

If we decide not to act on a request, we tell you why and how you can contest that decision.
