Question 1

Which DGT label does a used Volvo plug-in hybrid get?

Accepted Answer

A plug-in hybrid with at least 40 km of homologated electric range carries the Cero label, and one with less gets ECO. B4 and B5 mild hybrids get ECO, while petrol and diesel models get C or B depending on their age.

Question 2

Can an older Volvo diesel be driven in Madrid?

Accepted Answer

Diesels with a B or C label can circulate in Madrid, with stricter rules in the centre. Cars without a label face restrictions throughout the city, so check the label before buying an older D5 or D3.

Question 3

What should I check on a used Volvo Recharge plug-in hybrid?

Accepted Answer

Ask how the car was charged and whether a Volvo workshop has checked the high-voltage battery. On the test drive, make sure it runs in pure electric mode, and that the charging cable is included.

Question 4

Do I pay ITP when buying a Volvo in Madrid?

Accepted Answer

Only in a private sale, where the buyer pays ITP to the Comunidad de Madrid before the DGT records the transfer. A car bought from a dealer includes VAT instead.
