Question 1

Which DGT label does a used Volvo XC60 get?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the engine and date. First-generation diesels built before Euro 6 carry the B label and Euro 6 diesels and petrols the C; B4 and B5 mild hybrids get ECO, and the T8 plug-in gets CERO or ECO depending on its homologated electric range.

Question 2

What should I check on an XC60 T8 plug-in hybrid?

Accepted Answer

Test how far it travels on electricity with a full charge, as that shows the battery's condition. A plug-in pays off only if it can be charged at home or at work; without that, this heavy car runs mostly on its petrol engine.

Question 3

First or second generation XC60?

Accepted Answer

The second generation, launched in 2017, brought the SPA platform, a more modern cabin and the plug-in and mild-hybrid engines. The first is cheaper and was among the first cars with City Safety automatic braking as standard.

Question 4

Is all-wheel drive worth having on a Volvo XC60?

Accepted Answer

Many XC60s, especially the more powerful versions, have AWD, which helps on mountain roads and in winter. The coupling that sends power to the rear axle needs periodic servicing, so ask whether it has been done.
