Question 1

What does Seville's heat do to a used Volkswagen?

Accepted Answer

Years of strong sun fade paint and headlight lenses, crack dashboard plastics and harden door seals, and heat shortens the life of the 12-volt battery. A car kept in a garage or a shaded space usually ages noticeably better.

Question 2

Which DGT label does a Volkswagen need in Seville?

Accepted Answer

Spanish law requires cities of Seville's size to set up low-emission zones, so the label decides where a car can go as restrictions arrive. It depends on fuel and registration date, and can be looked up by number plate on the DGT website.

Question 3

Who pays ITP on a private Volkswagen sale in Seville?

Accepted Answer

The buyer pays ITP to the Agencia Tributaria de Andalucía, and the change of owner is then registered with the DGT. A dealer sale carries no ITP, which narrows the price gap with private sellers.

Question 4

Is a diesel Volkswagen a good choice for driving only in Seville?

Accepted Answer

Modern diesels have a particulate filter that needs longer runs at speed to clean itself, and short urban trips can clog it. For city-only use, a petrol, hybrid or electric Volkswagen tends to cause fewer problems.
