What usually goes wrong with a manual Volkswagen gearbox?

Clutch and dual-mass flywheel wear is the common issue on TDI and high-torque TSI models, felt as judder pulling away and rattle at idle. The gearbox itself is usually durable.

Manual or DSG Volkswagen?

The manual is cheaper to keep and avoids the mechatronic and clutch faults of the seven-speed dry-clutch DQ200 DSG used with smaller engines. The six-speed wet-clutch DSG is tougher but needs regular fluid changes.

What do you need to transfer a used Volkswagen in Spain?

The change of owner is filed with the DGT using the sale contract, the permiso de circulación and the ficha técnica with a valid ITV. In a private sale the buyer first pays their region's ITP.
