Which petrol engine is best in a used Volkswagen Tiguan?

For most buyers the 1.5 TSI of the second generation is the best balance, with enough power for a family SUV and cylinder deactivation to save fuel. The 2.0 TSI with 4Motion suits towing and mountain roads, at a clear cost in fuel.

Does a petrol Volkswagen Tiguan have known engine problems?

Early 1.4 TSI engines in the first-generation Tiguan can suffer timing chain wear, and some early 2.0 TSI units burn oil. In the second generation, early 1.5 TSI cars could hesitate when pulling away, which software updates improved.

Is a petrol Volkswagen Tiguan a good choice in Spain?

A petrol Tiguan suits drivers who cover modest distances or mostly drive in town, where a diesel's particulate filter struggles. It carries at least the C label, so it keeps access to most low-emission zones.
