Question 1

Where is the Volkswagen Polo built?

Accepted Answer

Volkswagen's plant in Pamplona, in Navarre, has been a main source of the Polo for decades. For a buyer that means a large supply of Spanish-market cars and easy access to parts and workshops.

Question 2

What should I check on a Polo with a DSG gearbox?

Accepted Answer

Most automatic Polos use the seven-speed DSG with dry clutches, which can judder or hesitate at low speed when worn. Test it in slow traffic and on a hill start, and ask whether the gearbox software has been updated.

Question 3

Which DGT label does a used Polo carry?

Accepted Answer

Petrol Polos registered from 2006 carry the C label, as do diesels that meet Euro 6; Euro 4 and Euro 5 diesels carry B. The label for each number plate is recorded in the DGT register.

Question 4

How does the sixth-generation Polo differ?

Accepted Answer

Launched in 2017 on the MQB A0 platform, it is longer and wider than the fifth generation, with more room in the back and a bigger boot. It shares its base with the SEAT Ibiza, also built in Spain.
