Question 1

How do I avoid a flood-damaged Toyota in Valencia?

Accepted Answer

Look under the carpets and seats for silt and corrosion, test every electrical function and request the DGT vehicle report. Ask the seller directly whether the car was caught in the October 2024 floods, and have the answer written into the contract.

Question 2

Is a hybrid a good choice for Valencia?

Accepted Answer

On flat city streets and in slow traffic, Toyota's hybrids spend much of the time in electric mode, which keeps consumption low. They also carry the DGT ECO label, which matters more as the city's low-emission zone takes effect.

Question 3

Does Valencia's coastal air affect a used Toyota?

Accepted Answer

Salt air and humidity speed up corrosion on the underbody, brakes and exhaust. A look underneath on a lift is worth it, especially for cars that have been parked outdoors near the sea.

Question 4

What taxes apply to a used Toyota bought in Valencia?

Accepted Answer

Buying from a private seller, you pay ITP to the Generalitat Valenciana; a dealer purchase pays no ITP. Each year the IVTM is also due to the municipality where the car is registered.
