Used Toyota RAV4 automatics in Spain

Found 761 cars

From €8,200 to €55,000, half under €29,990 · Typically 2021 with 96,792 km. On a RAV4, automatic nearly always means hybrid: since 2016 the 2.5 hybrid drives through Toyota's e-CVT, a planetary gearset with no clutch or belt to wear. Earlier petrol RAV4s used a conventional CVT, and the 2.2 diesel a six-speed automatic.

Is the Toyota RAV4 hybrid gearbox reliable?

Yes, the e-CVT is one of the RAV4's strongest points. It has no clutch, belt or torque converter, just a planetary gearset and two electric motors, so there is little to wear out. The engine can sound busy under hard acceleration, which is normal for this design.

Which automatic Toyota RAV4 should I buy in Spain?

A fifth-generation 2.5 hybrid from 2019 onwards is the usual choice: efficient, smooth and with the DGT ECO label. The plug-in hybrid adds the CERO zero-emissions label and a useful electric range. Older diesel automatics suit towing but carry the B or C label.

Does the automatic Toyota RAV4 come with four-wheel drive?

Yes, many do. Hybrid AWD-i versions add an electric motor on the rear axle instead of a propshaft, and the plug-in hybrid is always AWD-i. Older diesel and petrol automatics used a mechanical four-wheel-drive system.
