Question 1

Which DGT label does a used RAV4 get?

Accepted Answer

The self-charging hybrid carries the ECO label and the plug-in hybrid gets CERO, which helps in low-emission zones such as Madrid's and Barcelona's. Older diesels and petrol RAV4s get B or C depending on their emissions standard.

Question 2

How does the hybrid RAV4's all-wheel drive work?

Accepted Answer

AWD-i versions have no propshaft: a separate electric motor drives the rear wheels when grip or acceleration calls for it. It suits wet roads and tracks rather than serious off-roading.

Question 3

Is the hybrid battery a worry on a high-mileage RAV4?

Accepted Answer

Toyota's hybrid batteries have a good durability record, and the brand extends cover on cars serviced in its official network. On a RAV4 with many kilometres, ask for the results of the hybrid system check.

Question 4

Is the plug-in RAV4 worth it without home charging?

Accepted Answer

Its advantage comes from driving on electricity, so without regular charging it runs mostly as a heavier hybrid. Buyers who can charge at home or at work get the most from it, and it carries the CERO label either way.
