Which automatic gearbox does the SsangYong Rexton use?

The SsangYong Rexton G4 used a seven-speed automatic sourced from Mercedes-Benz, and the Rexton facelifted in 2021 switched to an eight-speed Aisin. Both are torque-converter automatics suited to towing.

Is the SsangYong Tivoli automatic reliable?

The SsangYong Tivoli automatic uses a conventional six-speed Aisin torque-converter gearbox, a widely used and durable design. Ask whether its fluid has been changed, especially on a car that has towed or done many short trips.

Does an automatic SsangYong use more fuel?

An automatic SsangYong uses slightly more fuel than the same model with a manual, more noticeably with the older six-speed units. In return it is easier in traffic and when towing, with no clutch to manage.
