Which DGT label does a used small car get in Spain?

It depends on fuel and registration date, not size. Petrol cars from about 2006 usually get the C label and diesels from about 2015, while hybrids get ECO and electric cars CERO.

Is a small car cheaper to tax in Spain?

Usually, yes. The municipal IVTM is charged on fiscal horsepower, which is low for small engines, so a city car normally sits in the cheapest band; each town hall sets its own rates.

What does it cost to transfer a small car bought privately in Spain?

The buyer pays ITP, the regional transfer tax, plus the DGT transfer fee. Bought from a dealer, the sale carries VAT rather than ITP; either way the car needs a valid ITV.
