Question 1

Which DGT label does a used SEAT Ibiza get?

Accepted Answer

It depends on fuel and emissions standard rather than the model. Petrol Ibizas from the mid-2000s on generally qualify for the C label, while a diesel needs Euro 6 for C and older ones get B or none. The TGI natural-gas versions carry the ECO label.

Question 2

Is a TGI Ibiza worth buying?

Accepted Answer

Natural gas is cheap to run and the ECO label eases access to low-emission zones. The catch is that CNG stations are few outside the big cities, although the car also has a small petrol tank as a backup.

Question 3

What should I check on an Ibiza with a DSG gearbox?

Accepted Answer

The seven-speed dry-clutch DSG fitted to smaller engines should pull away without judder or hesitation. Ask whether the gearbox has had any clutch or mechatronic work, and test it in slow traffic as well as on the open road.

Question 4

What changes when I buy an Ibiza from a private seller?

Accepted Answer

A private sale pays ITP, the regional transfer tax, which a dealer sale does not. The transfer itself is registered with the DGT, and the ITV must be valid for the car to be on the road.
