Question 1

How many generations of the Kangoo are there?

Accepted Answer

Three: the original of 1997, a larger second generation from 2008 and the current one from 2021. Each was sold both as a passenger car with rear seats and as a van for goods.

Question 2

Does it matter whether a Kangoo is registered as a van?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A Kangoo registered as a goods vehicle goes to the ITV earlier and more often than a passenger car, and may be approved for only two seats. Changing its category is a modification that has to be approved at the ITV.

Question 3

What should I know about a used Kangoo Z.E.?

Accepted Answer

Many early electric Kangoos were sold with the battery on a monthly rental from Renault, so ask whether it is owned or rented before agreeing a price. Ask too for a battery health report, as the range depends on it.

Question 4

Which DGT label does a Kangoo diesel carry?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the emissions standard: Euro 6 diesels carry C, while Euro 4 and Euro 5 ones carry B. Electric versions carry the zero-emission label, which matters for deliveries inside low-emission zones.
