Is the Renault Captur EDC gearbox reliable?

The EDC works well when maintained, but some cars judder or hesitate at low speed as the clutches wear. On a test drive, pull away gently on a slope and in traffic to feel for it.

What gearbox does the Renault Captur E-Tech hybrid use?

The Captur E-Tech uses a Renault multi-mode gearbox with dog clutches instead of a friction clutch, linking the petrol engine to electric motors. It drives like an automatic and pulls away on electric power.

Does an automatic Renault Captur get the DGT ECO label?

Only the E-Tech hybrids get ECO, and the plug-in gets the zero label; an EDC petrol or diesel takes the C label like its manual equivalent. The gearbox itself does not change the label.

Two automatic families exist: the EDC dual-clutch on the TCe petrols and the dCi diesel, and the E-Tech hybrids' multi-mode gearbox, which has no conventional clutch. An EDC that jerks pulling away usually needs a software update or new clutches.
