Which automatic gearbox does the Renault Arkana have?

The mild-hybrid TCe petrol versions use a seven-speed EDC dual-clutch gearbox, while the E-Tech full hybrid uses Renault's multi-mode gearbox, which has no clutch and works with two electric motors. Both are driven simply as automatics.

Is the Renault Arkana EDC gearbox reliable?

The EDC is a dry dual-clutch unit that is generally sound but can judder when creeping in traffic, so test it at low speed and on a slope. Ask whether any software updates have been applied at a Renault workshop.

Is an automatic Renault Arkana good for city driving in Spain?

Yes, especially the E-Tech hybrid, which pulls away on electric power, recovers energy in stop-start traffic and carries the DGT ECO label. That label gives access to low-emission zones and, in some cities, parking discounts.
