Question 1

What is Porsche Approved?

Accepted Answer

It is Porsche's own certified used car programme, run through official Porsche Centres. Cars are inspected to the brand's checklist and sold with a Porsche warranty, which on a car of this value is worth weighing against a cheaper private sale.

Question 2

What is the IMS bearing problem on Porsche engines?

Accepted Answer

The intermediate shaft bearing in the early water-cooled flat-six engines, fitted to the 996 generation of the 911 and the first Boxsters, can fail and badly damage the engine. Ask whether it has been replaced or upgraded, and keep the invoice with the car.

Question 3

How much tax does a used Porsche pay in Spain?

Accepted Answer

Each council sets the annual IVTM by fiscal horsepower, so powerful Porsches sit in the top bands. A private sale also pays ITP, a regional transfer tax that a dealer sale does not.

Question 4

What should I check on a used Porsche Taycan?

Accepted Answer

Ask for a battery health report, since the range a used Taycan still offers depends on it, and check which charging options the car has. As an electric car it carries the DGT zero-emission label, which opens low-emission zones to it.

Question 5

Does an imported Porsche pay extra tax?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A Porsche brought from another country pays Spain's registration tax, based on its CO2 emissions, when it is first registered here. A car already on Spanish plates has paid it, which makes the purchase simpler.
