Question 1

How is the Rifter different from the Peugeot Partner?

Accepted Answer

The Partner is the commercial van, usually with a closed load area, while the Rifter is the passenger version with side windows, rear seats and a car's trim. They share the platform and most mechanical parts, which keeps spares easy to find in Spain.

Question 2

What should I know about the Peugeot Rifter's 1.2 PureTech engine?

Accepted Answer

Its timing belt runs in oil and can wear early, shedding debris that blocks the oil supply. Ask for invoices showing the belt checked or changed at the shorter interval Peugeot now recommends, and avoid a car with an oil-pressure warning in its history.

Question 3

Which DGT label does a Rifter carry?

Accepted Answer

Diesel and petrol Rifters meet Euro 6 and carry the C label. The electric e-Rifter carries the 0 label, which gives the widest access to Spain's low-emission zones.

Question 4

Is a used e-Rifter a good buy?

Accepted Answer

Its range suits town and regional driving better than long motorway trips. Ask for a battery health report and check that it charges both from a home wallbox and at a rapid charger.

Question 5

Peugeot Rifter: five or seven seats?

Accepted Answer

Seven seats are most common on the Long body, whose extra length leaves boot space behind the third row. Check that the third-row seats are actually in the car, since some sellers take them out.
