Question 1

Is the timing belt a weak point on the Corsa 1.2 PureTech?

Accepted Answer

The 1.2 PureTech used in the Corsa F runs its timing belt in oil, and the belt can degrade early when oil changes were late or the wrong oil was used. Ask for the service record and when the belt was last inspected or replaced. Corsa D and E petrol engines are Opel's own and do not have this belt.

Question 2

Which DGT label does a used Corsa carry?

Accepted Answer

Petrol Corsas registered from 2006 onwards get the C label, as do diesels that meet Euro 6; older diesels usually have B. The Corsa Hybrid carries ECO and the electric Corsa-e carries CERO, which gives the widest access to low-emission zones.

Question 3

What should I know about the Easytronic gearbox on a Corsa D?

Accepted Answer

Easytronic is an automated manual rather than a true automatic, so it changes gear slowly and can jerk. Worn clutches and faulty actuators are its usual repairs, so check on the test drive that it pulls away and shifts smoothly.

Question 4

Is a used Corsa-e a sensible electric car?

Accepted Answer

It suits town and regional driving best, and its CERO label also earns a lower IVTM in many Spanish towns. Ask for a battery health report and check that the car charges both from a home wallbox and from a public fast charger.
