Question 1

Which Qashqai has the ECO label?

Accepted Answer

The third generation, from 2021, is sold only as a mild hybrid or e-Power and carries ECO, so it can drive freely through Madrid's Distrito Centro. Earlier petrol models have C, and diesels C or B depending on their Euro standard.

Question 2

How does the Qashqai e-Power work?

Accepted Answer

A petrol engine acts only as a generator while an electric motor drives the wheels, so it feels like an electric car but never needs plugging in. The smooth, quiet drive suits stop-start city traffic.

Question 3

What should I check on the Qashqai's Xtronic automatic?

Accepted Answer

The Xtronic CVT fitted to many second-generation cars should pull away smoothly, without shudder or a rising whine. Ask whether its fluid has been changed, and pass on a car whose gearbox hesitates on the test drive.

Question 4

Does any Qashqai have seven seats?

Accepted Answer

Only the Qashqai+2, sold alongside the first generation, with a longer body and a third row of two seats best suited to children. The later generations have five seats.
