Question 1

Which Qashqai generation should I choose?

Accepted Answer

The first generation, sold until 2013, is the cheapest and included the seven-seat Qashqai+2. The second, from 2014, is the most common and offers diesels, while the third, from 2021, is petrol only and better equipped with driver assistance.

Question 2

What should I check on a second-generation Qashqai?

Accepted Answer

The 1.2 DIG-T petrol engine has a record of high oil consumption, so ask how often it has been topped up and check the level yourself. On cars with the Xtronic CVT, listen for whining and feel for jerks when pulling away.

Question 3

How does the Qashqai e-Power work?

Accepted Answer

In the e-Power the wheels are driven only by an electric motor, and a petrol engine generates the electricity, so it never needs plugging in. It drives like an electric car in town and carries the DGT ECO label.

Question 4

Which DGT label does a used Qashqai get?

Accepted Answer

Every third-generation Qashqai, mild hybrid or e-Power, carries the ECO label. Second-generation Euro 6 diesels and the petrol models of both earlier generations are usually C, while first-generation diesels get B.
